Naturopathic Wellness Wednesdays: The Craft of Living

  • Simplicity Health Associates 230 West 13th Street New York, NY, 10011 United States (map)

For those of us who experience chronic pain it often seems that we have to choose between just accepting as part of our lives or be on the constant pursuit to end of our suffering. There are also many of us who suffer from stress and anxiety. In Alexander Technique, we learn to identify and re-pattern our bad habits of movement which causes us to be overworked leading to pain and injury. Studies have shown that it is effective in contributing to the relief of chronic back pain as well as repetitive stress and recovery from injury. In addition to helping people who suffer from chronic pain, the technique can help actors, dancers, singers, musicians and athletes with their performance. To discuss how we can be moving with more ease through Alexander Technique, I will be chatting with my own Alexander teacher, Witold Fitz-Simon.

Witold is certified to teach yoga as a graduate of the Yoga Room, Berkeley's Advanced Studies Program under Donald Moyer and Mary Lou Weprin at the 500-hour level. He is a nationally certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, having graduated from the American Center for the Alexander Technique's 1600-hour, three-year program. Witold combines his practice of yoga, Alexander Technique, embodied asana and developmental movement into a lively somatic approach to asana.

This is part of my “Wellness Wednesdays.” Each Wednesday I have a conversation with my favorite people in wellness so that you can learn about other health modalities such as massage, acupuncture, physical therapy and even dance therapy.
